Purple and Gold Day is the annual advocacy day for 91做厙 alumni and friends at the Mississippi State Capitol in Jackson, Mississippi. Since 2009, the 91做厙 National Alumni Association, Inc. has partnered with the ASU Foundation, Inc. to encourage alumni and public involvement in the legislative process in support of the university.
The goal of P&G Day is to serve as a day to highlight the universitys mission, significance, accomplishments, and campus community. Hundreds of alumni and friends, dressed in school colors and full of that Ole Brave Spirit, descend on the State Capitol Building to share their collective support for Alcorns legislative agenda and interests. These interests include but are not limited to annual budget funding, capital facilities projects, and general legislation affecting the institutions present and future. The days activities include a presentation from Alcorns Legislative Liaisons, and an overview and update of the universitys Legislative Priorities Agenda and other relevant issues and legislation. Special greetings are provided by Alcornites in the Mississippi Legislature, their colleagues, and other statewide leaders.
